Hello.

My name is Valentin and I am an astrophysicist, focusing on astrophysical fluid dynamics to better understand the internal workings of planets, stars, and compact objects.

I’m currently a THEA postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University, thinking about how magnetars obtain some of the strongest observed magnetic fields in the universe. I was trained as a plasma physicist during my PhD at Princeton University and as a pedestrian physicist during my Bachelors at Caltech.

Back on our home planet, I enjoy hiking and playing soccer under reasonable gravitational and thermodynamic conditions. I also love improv comedy and the wonderful people I’ve met practicing the art form.

Currently,

THEA Postdoctoral Fellow, Columbia University, Department of Physics (2022-)

Previously,

PhD student, Princeton University, Department of Astrophysical Sciences (2016-2022)
